Pravastu Designs

What we believe

Light, proportion, and the way a home breathes.

Pravastu is pra and vastu — the science of dwelling, taken forward. The name is a claim about method, so it is worth setting out plainly what we actually think good design is.

  1. 01Light first

Plan the light, then the furniture.

Every home has one or two hours a day when it is genuinely beautiful. Most interiors are designed without anyone ever finding out when those are. We start by watching how light crosses the rooms, because no amount of joinery fixes a badly lit space and no amount of lighting design replaces a window used properly.

  2. 02Proportion

    Proportion is cheaper than finish.

A well-proportioned room in laminate reads better than a badly proportioned one in marble. Getting heights, widths and the rhythm of openings right costs nothing extra at the drawing stage and cannot be bought back later at any price.

  3. 03Flow

    Design for the ordinary Tuesday.

Homes get designed for the housewarming and then lived in for a decade. Where wet umbrellas go, whether two people can pass in the kitchen, where the school bags land — these are the things that decide whether a home works, and they never appear on a moodboard.

  4. 04Vastu

    Vastu is observation, not superstition.

Strip away the ritual and most Vastu principles are careful observations about sun path, prevailing wind and movement, made on this subcontinent long before anyone had the vocabulary of building science. We follow them because they hold up, and we will tell you plainly when a rule is doing nothing for your particular home.

  5. 05Honesty

    Show the client the ending.

The reason our industry is mistrusted is that clients are asked to approve a feeling and then wait five months to see a result. Every tool we have adopted — VR, live 3D, weekly photographs — exists to close that gap. Nothing about it is decorative.

If any of that sounds like how you think

The questionnaire is the quickest way for us to understand your particular home, and for you to find out what you actually like.
